Garbage(垃圾乐队)这支在95年堀起立即震撼乐界四人团体，以其特有音乐视野巧妙搬弄流行、摇滚、噪音等因子迸发不同于时下的鲜明风格。当94年Shirley Manson的加入，乐团于是成形，而正当团名悬而未决时，有位大伙共同的朋友来访Smart Studios无意听了Vig、Marker、Erikson等人之前录制的噪音声响，立即脱口而出“This sounds like garbage”，Vig马上反应“没错，我们就是要将这些垃圾变成一首首歌曲”，于是这个新兴团体就有了别具意义的名字－Garbage。

“只在雨中感到快乐，只在黑暗中微笑，这是何等忧郁的人生，然而这又是何等真切的人生？在巨大的都市中，在复杂的情感中，我们都依靠什么，能相信什么呢？”Shirley Manson愤世嫉俗地，自弃地唱道“Don't believe in love，Don't believe in hate，Don't believe in anything，That you can't waste。”这个就是Shirley Manson的价值观，是Garbage的价值观。
