整个故事的开始和目的似乎很简单，简单到用一句就能概括：主角雾亥要在故事中的世界找到“网络终端遗传因子”。然而待到故事的展开后，一步一步的，雾亥要从最底层逐步递升到更高处寻找自己所要找的事物，期间遇到了各种想象不到的奇怪事件。越是阅读到后面就发觉越是有很多的迷团等待着被解答。

狰狞与粗犷的欧美画风为《Blame》的人设中的线条、神髓提供了源泉动力，工业设计概念的频繁引入让人在观赏《Blame》中一些战斗场面的人物以及场景时觉得电子、摇滚之类的音乐在空旷中发出回音，形成奇特的苦闷而嘈杂着的喧嚣发泄心情。

孤独的世界观主题、凝重的人物表情、奇异乃至畸形的人工生命体，这些或意会或纯粹的表与里都很让人联想到另类与不可思议的神秘。
