《The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me》挺有趣的专辑名字，挺好玩的封面。

充满年轻活力气息、宣泄庞克强劲力道、挟带EMO声调表情，一组引起全美地下独立摇滚界瞩目的优质新团Brand New。但我感觉这只乐队的歌曲有点punk不punk，emo不emo，独立不独立的味道。

1990年底随著Post-Hardcore乐团The Rookie Lot解体，当中负责主唱/词曲创作核心/吉他/钢琴的Jesse Lacey、贝斯手Garrett Tierney与鼓手Brian Lane等团员，开始理出新的音乐方向，就在吉他手Vin Accardi加入后，Brand New正式成军，而团名灵感则是取自白人饶舌团队Beastie Boys 1995年EP《Aglio e Olio》中的同名作品。2001年於独立厂牌旗下发行首张专辑《Your Favorite Weapon》，赢得极佳迴响，成为大型庞克音乐祭的座上嘉宾，与儿时玩伴Taking Back Sunday携手巡迴演出。2003年的作品《Deja Entendu》，在毫无强力商业广告促销下，仍挺进全美流行专辑榜Top63位置，成为「Rate Your Music」音乐网站2003年度百大专辑第八名。

进入名厂Interscope Records旗下，筹备录製一年多的首张主流大厂专辑《The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me》，2006年先行在美国推出空降全美流行专辑榜Top31位置，2007年正式在全球问世。请到Mike Sapone (Taking Back Sunday、Public Enemy)与Brand New各团员共同监製。叙述录製这张新辑期间，丧失亲友伤痛的首支主攻曲＜Sowing Season (Yeah)＞，深沉缓调的培养情绪作前引，一声嘶吼划破原本寂静气流，带入濒临崩溃边缘将一切难过与无耐一倾而泄；原本选为第一波主打的＜Degausser＞，同样也是挟杂在落差极为明显EMO声音表情中，更堆迭出多重合声加强其力道，并是Jesse在演唱会现场最爱演唱的作品；迴盪在低迷声频下的＜Limousine (MS Rebridge)＞，是首相当沉重感伤之作，叙述年仅七岁的Katie Flynn，参加完阿姨婚礼，於回家路上发生车祸当场惨死之不幸；以吉他轻弹拉开序幕的＜Luca＞，写出关於经典电影「教父」中Luca Brasi个性之小品；鼓譟的＜The Archers Bows Have Broken＞轻易的将听者高涨情绪再度拉至顶端。
