办公楼对面有一个男人穿着小丑的服装，为儿童医院募款。
珍妮丝跳到他跟前停下来。“呼、呼、嘻、嘻，”她指着他的脸呵呵地笑。
那小丑打量着她，发狂地吃吃的笑，反指着她。
路过的人都窃笑不已。
珍妮丝抱着肚子，嚎叫着“”我敢说我做的表演比你赚的多！”
然后珍妮丝和这个小丑抱在一起跳跃着，笑得如此灿烂。
在房间里，珍妮丝坐在床边，蜷缩成一小团，开始哭叫她每次都得一个人回家。
她头上的羽毛掉到了地板上，让她看起来变成了一个娇小、朴素、无助、爱哭的流浪儿。
帕蒂史密斯看了大吃一惊“天啊，你看起来好小！”
珍妮丝酩酊大醉，她踉跄着站起来，穿过房间走到镜子前，拾起她的羽毛，戴回她的头上。
“老兄，”，珍妮丝粗暴的说：“那是因为我没有带上我的羽毛。”
她的声音变成了怪异的语调。“就这么简单，老兄。我把它放回去……然后我就会变得‘很大’！”
珍妮丝向一个男乐手托比当众求爱，想把他搞到手。
但他并没有追她的意思，对她有的冲动恐怕也被对她的同情冷却了。
况且他还有个一个刚开始交往的也坐在观众席里的女友呢。
珍妮丝却因为有了对手而发起狂来，她尖叫地对托比说“你要上她么？你要上她么？”
最后那天晚上，珍妮丝不发一语去了另一家酒吧，和一个陌生男人走了，而那个男人对她的刚刚遭遇根本一无所知。第二天，托比带了一些花给珍妮丝，她深受感动，温柔又羞悔的感谢他。
“我昨天真的醉的不省人事么？”她问。
“唔，是啊，事实上，你真的醉的很离谱啊”他回答说。
“哎，”她无礼地说“你记住啦，这就是珍妮丝乔普林的风格。”
几小时后，托比在饭店大厅遇到珍妮丝。
