ＣＡＰＣＯＭ制作的ＰＳ２畅销动作游戏最新续作《鬼泣３》（Devil May Cry3）本作的主角仍然是我们熟悉的魔人旦丁。
作为系列剧情的起点，《鬼泣3》叙述了主角“DANTE”的恶魔猎人事务所刚成立，尚未正式营运之前，突然有一名神秘的男子“Arkham”造访，之后“DANTE”便陷入一连串被恶魔追杀的事件中。身具恶魔异能且武艺高超的“DANTE”自然不会把这些小喽罗放在眼里，但是在这一连串事件的背后，却是足以与他匹敌的双胞胎兄长“Vergil”。 现身在“DANTE”眼前的，是由地底窜起、巨大无比的高塔，塔顶则是失踪一年后突然率领魔界大军大举来袭的维吉尔，枪炮刀剑并用，狂野如火般的“DANTE”，以及坚持只使用日本武士刀（阎魔刀），冷彻如兵的“Vergil”，这对同为魔界最强剑士Sparta与人类女子混血後裔的兄弟，将要展开惊天动地的对决……
但在不久之后推出的《Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition》中，玩家可操控但丁的双胞胎哥哥维吉尔，《Devil May Cry 3》中讲述幼年但丁的事务所尚未正式营运之前便陷入一连串被恶魔追杀的事件中，就这一连串事件的背后，却是足以与他匹敌的双胞胎兄长维吉尔，但却没有交代这两个双胞胎兄弟关系决裂的内幕，《Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition》将以维吉尔的角度来详细交代这段剧情以示弥补前作留下的伏笔。
